That Writing Space

So, you have a vision in your mind of where the best writing space for you is. Perhaps a cabin in the woods, or a clean and empty hotel room, or a turret in a castle. Wherever you feel it is, that's ok.

I'm betting some of you aren't there yet. Some are in trains, scrambling to scratch out words before the meeting in the city. Some are on buses, itching to get out of your uniform and back to yourself. Some are surrounded by the needs of others, or crumbling walls, leaky ceilings, loud neighbours. And I can see why it feels like that 'writing space' is a million miles away.

But, here is where we have something that others don't. The very thing that drives us. Imagination. 

We can imagine entire lives in places we have never been. We can imagine complex people with complete back stories. We can imagine new universes. 

So borrow some of that power. Borrow some to take yourself away from where you are and, until it happens, imagine that you're already in your best writing space. Because you can, can't you?

You have that power. Use it to reach yourself. Use it to reach them.
